Sadly, these guys were real jerks. Their ground nest was 3 feet from the sidewalk right next to a bus stop, and several landed on my suit and pants and started trying to sting me when I simply walked on the sidewalk. Two successfully stung my legs through fairly thick fabric.

Maybe they were defensive because a gardener had disturbed them previously, but I didn't think it was okay to leave them acting like that next to a bus stop. <shrug>
