Well, last week was the most active week for the swarm line ever.
This week is off to a good start already.
We only have about 6 volunteers taking calls right now.
We're crazy busy trying to handle them.
There are over 300 subscribers to the swarm list, but many of them never claim a swarm.
We ask that those who recently got a swarm back off for a few minutes before making
another claim.
Any swarm not claimed by 15 or 20 minutes is fair game without restriction. That's because
they might fly away if we wait for somebody new to claim it, and sitting on swarms is a big
inconvenience for the volunteers.
You certainly may purchase a nuc or a colony. Several beekeepers have them on the market.
It's a service to the community, and fun to, to go out collecting swarms.
Our first year, back before the revamp of the swarm list, I didn't even hear about a swarm until late May!
That's back when the club had maybe 60 or 100 members total.
There will be another 200 swarms to place this year.
People will get loaded up, and the mix of people making claims will change.
Set your phone to alert you when you get incoming email.
Minimize the interval between checks of the "In" box.
Enable "Push"
Just about everyone willing to go out gets bees by the end of May.

Time stamp shows Omer a minute after. Bummer, I keep missing. Might just give up and purchase some bees.

Looks like an easy capture. Anyone?
Please include your phone number when responding.
If you claim a swarm be sure you can leave immediately to get them.
Call the person who reported it to let them know you are on your way.
If you can’t go right away, someone else is a better choice to get those bees because swarms can move on.
Collecting a swarm is two parts. Get them in the box, then go back after dark to pick it up. Before making a claim, be sure you are available to return.
