Plus,
the "metadata" in the "Headers" has times in it that come from different computers
and servers along the way.
The ones managed by the network provers and ISPs probably get their time synchronized
to NIST (national institute of standards and technology) via network time protocol (NTP).
Home computers may be seconds, or even many, many seconds out of sync with NIST
because the owner/manager isn't up to speed on that detail.
What counts is the order that the volunteer sees the responses in their email client.
We just don't have the time to resolve the differences in times between computers by digging through the headers.
We ask that you not gripe about someone getting your swarm by a few seconds.
There will be a couple hundred more swarms to place! Keep trying.
If you got a swarm in the last day or two, please back off a couple of minutes so others can take a turn.
Thank you

As an FYI to everyone on these: The list takes a few seconds to process each message. So if you compare the time your mail program sent the message to the time you received someone else's message, it might look like you were first, even though you missed it by a few seconds. (Put another way, you can really only compare the times both messages were sent.)
In this case it was:
From: Omer Friedman via swarm-list <swarm-list [at] alamedabees.org>Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2024 16:00:34 -0700Received: by mail-ot1-f52.google.com [...] for <swarm-list [at] alamedabees.org>; Mon, 08 Apr 2024 16:00:47 -0700 (PDT)

So you missed it by just four or five seconds! Frustrating, but don't give up, you'll get one! 🙂

Time stamp shows Omer a minute after. Bummer, I keep missing. Might just give up and purchase some bees.

Looks like an easy capture. Anyone?
Please include your phone number when responding.
If you claim a swarm be sure you can leave immediately to get them.
Call the person who reported it to let them know you are on your way.
If you can’t go right away, someone else is a better choice to get those bees because swarms can move on.
Collecting a swarm is two parts. Get them in the box, then go back after dark to pick it up. Before making a claim, be sure you are available to return.
