The bees filled up part of the volume between the fender liner and the tire.
I used a 12 oz plastic cup to scoop up about 10 scoops of bees
and gently poured them between frames.
Eventually I saw the queen.
Eventually I closed them in with a screen cover over the top.
A few bees settled onto the cover, but a lot still wanted to hang out in the wheel well.
So I collected stragglers with the bee vac until I was down to about 3 bees, and
the door to my power outlet had to be locked up for the night.
It was a company mini-van. I'm glad the driver didn't just drive off scattering the bees.
The queen looked like she was checking out cells already. I think she's the mother queen.
Probably about football size filling up perhaps half of a 10 frame medium.
To get some of the stragglers to move out of the wheel well I tried "thumping"
on it for a while. I'd read about "drumming" being used to get bees to move from one
skep into another. It may have helped a little but I got tired of it after a while.
