I checked this out, and this is definitely an extraction (which I don't do). I told her I would report what I found, and other people will hopefully contact her (Mary, 916-813-6774, North Berkeley).

They are honeybees, and they are entering into a hole where a beam comes out of the wall at the roofline. This is unfortunately about 15 feet off the ground; accessing it from outside would require being on a ladder and cutting out the wood siding.

However, there is interior access from a finished loft that you could cut the drywall in.

This link has some pictures and video of what I saw:

Hopefully someone can help her! She knows there will be a fee.

Mary is 81 years old and recently noticed bees flying around the small cottage in the back portion of her property.  It sounds like they are flying in and out of one spot and she can’t see an outside hive.  She was also stung by one of these bees when it landed on her sheets and stung her when she got into bed.  She said she looked at it and it appeared to her to be a honey bee.  She did not send any pics.

If you would like to reach out to her and take a look, please do so.  She knows there will be a fee to remove them.
