Re: Oakland Extraction Near the Zoo

I was the original receptionist on the hotline and posted it as a likely extraction but maybe someone could smoke them out or put a swarm box by the entrance since the bees had only just arrived.  Since it was  a public posting I do not know who responded to the call.

Whoever DID go out and see the situation should have reposted that the job was beyond him/her so we could have gotten another beekeeper with more capabilities.

My message to the swarmlist is never leave a caller in the dark about your actions is you cannot finish the job.  It gives the public a really bad idea about our service and in this case creates a bad situation for the bees because action was not timely.

Just got a call from a guy, Cruz  510-604-2596 at 10035 Voltaire Ave, Oakland.

Said he is on a fixed income and things are really tight for him.

He is allergic to bees and a colony has moved into his shed.

Said someone from the ACBA came out a few days ago and said they would remove the bees but never followed up.  He has been waiting for this member to get back to him, but has heard nothing, and his calls have gone unanswered.

Sounds like Cruz is getting ready to kill the bees.  Said he needs to get to stuff in the shed.

I asked him to give us a day to try to figure something out for him.

If you are able, please reach out to him.  I do not think he has money to pay for an extraction, so might be a charity job.

Thanks,

Gabriel
