Hi all,

The bees are at the base of the tree, taking up about 1-2 feet along a crack. It’s a swarm about the size of half a watermelon (I’m guessing) once they have all land landed). There are still some bees coming out of the pipe ( a long tube maybe 4’ long) and plenty of scouting going on.

Sung apparently gave them advice about the foam and the pipe. They appeared to definitely be leaving the “pipe” and not going back in. There are scouts looking for a place to go so I’m pretty sure this is a swarm.

There is a crack about 2 feet long and 4 inches deep maybe 2 inches wide that they are hanging out in and  clumping.

I couldn’t find the queen, I tried scooping some in a box, but they kept leaving. I am still a “newer “Bee rescuer with less than 10 years experience.

Paula says: This sounds like it might be one where it would be helpful to bring a B vacuum. Is there anybody who would be willing to take this on?

Feel free to email all to get info from Paula, or text me if you want to try and take it on. (I’ll text you and Paula back at the same time.) we can connect you with the people who live there - Tyson is a big hippie and really doesn’t want to harm them.

The plot thickens. This is more of a traffic jam than a swarm. Turns out the foam and pipe maneuver was a recent development and now the bees are confused. Can anyone go by and see if you can help?

Caller states bees have been living in the olive tree for a year. The homeowners closed the ground level hole with foam and added a pipe to raise the entrance a while back. She says they are now swarming and are on the side of the tree.

Who would like to leave now to collect the swarm and return after dark to ensure no be left behind?

If you collected a swarm in the last 24 hours, please hold off 5 minutes before making a claim.
