I think they are looking for a no cost extraction. I reached out and also offered an option for heavily discounted extraction if they were struggling to pay and they have not taken me up on it.

It sounds like the bees moved into a stud-bay that has a "mini-split" heat-pump unit on the inside. 
I doubt the bees. moved into the heat-pump unit itself. But... who knows.

The bees have been in the wall for at least a month. 

 Obviously the installers of the hvac unit weren't savvy about sealing up penetrations.  Alas
