As Jerry often says, if you can find a way to let bees have their natural habitat i.e. bee trees, then let them be. But this situation might benefit from a fairly easy design of metal netting that forces the bees to travel up and away at least 6 feet or more. That protects the children and family and saves some money. Maybe a beekeeper in the area could offer to design the screen for a low price. 800 dollars to take care of a bee tree is not unreasonable. When the bees are out you can take wood chips, etc, fill the space, and seal it off with window screen. But letting the bees stay is always best.

Or get them all. I think that I almost convinced them that they could live with the bees because they were very docile. I was three feet in front of the hole in their path and they did not care. I did tell them that if they decide to live with them they should keep an epi pen in the house just in case.Does Bob Batty specialize in bee trees or hard extractions?JenniferOn Wed, Apr 17, 2024 at 5:38 PM Richard Godfrey via swarm-list <swarm-list [at] alamedabees.org> wrote:Thanks and good to check.
