Jim - you are not beeless. I work the hotline and have only 1 successful swarm catch this year - in Feb/March. I've answered 42 hotline calls. 4-5 swarms that I responded to all flew off before I arrived (due to fact I'm also NOT beeless and often wait 10-20 min before responding).
FYI: Robin helped me straighten my top bar hive (successfully started after the 4th try), but the top bar did NOT successfully reQueen after split and now I'm in search for another swarm to populate the same top bar. I can't populate my top bar with langstroth frames and my attempts to populate it like a mating nuc has been unsuccessful. There's a learning curve on how to beekeep with top bar that I have NOT managed. Suggestions on how to start a top bar appreciated on BeeTalk, not swarmlist chat.
Bee Kind,
Mimi
