Frankly I think there is a good chance it's yellowjackets because I can't see a bunch of bees on the ground in the picture. 

This may not be worth a drive in from Lafayette.  

Perhaps best for someone from north-east Oakland or east Berkeley to get a look. I hate to send people on long dry runs.
