Gianna called to report a colony living inside her Black Oak tree, roughly 7 ft off the ground. Entrance is about 12 inches diameter. She's not sure how long they've been there. Thinks it might be recent but also had noted a lot of dead bees on her porch for some time, so possibly longer before she noticed it. She said quite a bit of the tree is dying but the bees are living in one of the healthy sections. She's concerned about the health of the tree which I told her is probably not a consideration, at least as far as the bees go. She also has kids that play in the yard and a niece that comes over that's allergic. We talked about bees existing in the world whether or not she has bees in her tree and that coexistence is probably her best option. She would still like somebody to come and take a look and assess the situation and see if perhaps there is anything that can be done.
