from wall where heat pump refrigerant lines penetrate the second floor wall

From the outside you can see the spot next to the pipes where the bees 

enter the wall.

On the other side of that wall there is, apparently, an air conditioning 

unit which connects to the

heat pump unit below via refrigeration tubing.  The installers did a 

crappy job sealing the wall, alas.
