When Jonathan organized the swarm-list Volunteers,  he made a provision that's a Perk for volunteers.
Each  volunteer gets to claim One swarm call of their choice without posting it to the list.
(most years I don't use that perk.  I have gone out after swarms I posted that aren't claimed after half an hour or an hour, or difficult ones.)
(there's a provision also for emergency situations where the volunteer believes a response quicker than the posting cycle is necessary. I collected a swarm on the asphalt in a busy parking lot a few years ago.)
(Mileage varies)

Pam claimed this one which was 2 blocks from her house.

We've had several swarms fly off in the interval between posting and the arrival of the person who claimed it.
Swarm scouts are finding and back-filling dead-outs in the environment, so they move on pretty quickly.  (so be ready to go right-away)
Later in spring swarms will hang around longer.

Swarm calls so far are running ahead of previous years (note the dotted red line compared to the others)
In the immortal words of the HHGTTU,  don't panic.

In the past four years there have been 300 or more swarms to place during spring.
That's more swarms to place than Mt. Diablo sells packages, or BFO sells RO nuc colonies, and these bees are local.
Not counted are the swarms attracted to our Bait-Hives.  (so set up bait hives if you haven't already)

So please be patient.
Jerry

I believe that a woman called in about a huge swarm that was claimed by Pamela but I didn’t see it posted on the list.
