Jerry I can help when things get busy. Feb, March, April, but it may not be worth listing me since I will be out of the country quite a bit. Just letting you know. And did someone take care of the San Ramon extraction?
Cheers, Richard

First of all, if you are new to the swarm list, then DO read through the swarm-list-guidelines in the Members page of the
alamedabees.org website. You'll need the password, which you can find in the Newsletter, or in the welcome message you received when you joined.
(The password will change April 1)
A Volunteer (like me or George, or Gina, or Pam, or Elinor) takes the swarm-hotline call, and pre-filters it.
The volunteer posts: Swarm in the subject line if it's a Swarm,
and posts: Extraction in the subject line if the bees have moved into a closed space, like a wine-barrel, an attic, a play-house, a hot-tub (control and pump housing) etc.
Swarms hang from tree branches, or clump in bushes, hanging under picnic tables etc.
Colonies to be extracted HAVE built comb in whatever object, or cavity, was mentioned in the posting.
With swarms, there's the volunteer's-announcement, the-claim, the-acknowledgement, (and passing caller contact information privately) --- and DONE.
With an Extraction, the volunteer-announcement INCLUDES contact information --- and DONE
Extractions are NOT claimed. Anyone with the skills, insurance, etc to take on an extraction is free to contact the caller, and offer a bid on the job.
Swarms ARE claimed. The expectation is that if you Claim the swarm, you Will leave promptly to do the removal/relocation.
With swarms, 'This evening' is NOT OK. Nor is 'Tomorrow.'
George posted an Extraction today.
Anyone wishing to take on the job can contact The-Caller about additional information about the job. Comb is generally assumed. "
They're also called "Cut-Outs" for a reason.
Again... if you do wish to take on extractions, you had better be good at this bee-game AND you better know enough about structures too, and construction practices too.
I hope that clears things for anyone who was confused.
Jerry
ps. You might save this email in case you need to remind yourself later.
