There is a structure on the roof for stair access and the elevator shaft. Where the roofing materials meets the stucco wall is some flashing and the bees’ entrance.

And that entrance is about a foot away from the edge of the roof.

The sun was hitting the wall when I was there so I could not use my thermal imager.

Removal would require a lift or scaffolding if approached from the exterior. Or, perhaps there is a way to get on top of the elevator.

The occasional bee falls into the elevator car.
The colony has been there for years.

The management company saw some of our publicity and decided to call us this time.

Whether they're at the top of the shaft, or off to the side, or behind a panel... who knows.
There may be multiple entrances, so a trap-out might not work.
Could be easy. Could be gnarly.

The site is 2130 Mountain Blvd, Oakland.
