They are in insulation below deck kinda right around the pipe
the tony needs to work on.
The place where they're at is 12 feet off the ground under a deck or 
balcony.

One option would be to try to relocate the nest.
Are you interested in trying to do this?

The other option is to just wear some bee gear while working next to the 
colony
and letting them be.   That's where the loaner equipment comes in.

if loaner PPE doesn't pan out,  I suggested Tony get a bug-hat / 
mosquito-net to protect the face,
a jacket for the extremities, and some gloves.

It would be nice to work around them if they can't easily be relocated.
If you live close by, and are up for a bit of an adventure...
