Re: Swarm in Fremont at eaves of two storey house on Laurel Canyon Way

Sung Lee mentioned his solution to a problem like this one.
He has several plastic shipping tubes from 8 foot long fluorescent lamps.
He attaches several tubes joined end-to-end to his bee-vac hose
to reach up to bees that are way up there.

The thing is, these bees are on top of an Eave-Vent.
Are they a swarm moving in,
or are they part of a colony oozing out from the main colony in the attic space?

The screen on those holes is usually 1/4" hardware cloth, which queens and drones
can easily get past.
(Why there aren't more cases of swarms moving into attic vents is a good question)

This may be a job for someone with a vacuum and saftey equipment. I smelled bananas,

Hi Elinor,

I tried. I climbed up to them, but I couldn’t safely align the bucket and card I was going to
use to get them down. Too big of a risk. It’s a narrow place to put the ladder. Too shakeu
for me. I apologized to them and let them know that I would tell the list it’s still open.

As far as I could see they weren’t going in to t he wall.

Caller sent another photo which definitely show it is honey bees.

You would need to bring a ladder. Anyone available? Please include your phone
number and email address.
